ICC plays forward defense again
My new year resolution list read something like this
1. Get fit not fat
2. Stop smoking
3. Save money
4. blah de blah de blah
5. Lay off the ICC for a bit
In my short time blogging I have spent a reasonable amount of time chucking beamers at cricket’s administrative head, most notably for the stance it took [...]

Dodgy action gets Shabbir banned
Shabbir Ahmed has been banned for 12 months for chucking.
It’s at times like these that I’m glad the future of the game is in the hands of an organisation with such straightforward, logical, processes to investigate such things as chucking.
This is the ICC’s published process for dealing with flexi elbows.

A chronic dose of institutional paralysis
If I find one thing more objectionable than the incredulous inaction shown by the ICC over the dire mismanagement of Zimbabwean cricket, it is the self justification of their inaction through their latest media release.
The ICC is losing credibility with every utterance of self importance that spews from its cosy confines, detaching itself from [...]

When cricket really is life or death
With Tatenda Taibu in hiding from Robert Mugabe’s henchman, I guess it puts the game of cricket into some kind of perspective. The ‘business’ of sport should never put lives at risk.
But here it clearly has and the ICC will not step in and take control of the growing disaster in Zimbabwe [...]

Rankings and nudity?
If England manage a clean sweep in Pakistan they’ll move on to 122 points from their current position of 119.

Where the ICC got it wrong with technology
The ICC’s mandate to the on-field umpires during the 2005 Super Series ODI’s to refer anything they like to the 3rd umpire was not the most effective way of improving the accuracy of umpiring decisions. In fact it looked to cause more confusion in the decision making process of the men in the middle.
Give [...]

5 days to go and blow me I’m excited
In spite of myself I can’t wait for the first Super Series ODI.
Whether out of frustration that the recent headlines have been stolen for largely ancilliary matters or whether post Ashes withdrawal is finally starting to kick in I don’t know.
Whatever the cause, I’m counting down the days. Never thought I’d see [...]

He’s Inzy..he’s Outzy..he shakes it all Aboutzy.
Inzamam’s inclusion in the Super Series ‘fiesta’ (drum roll please) is about as structured as his running between the wickets. His petulance has been hidden behind other more high profile tantrums but if I have this right…
He was included in the first big squad of pretty much everyone who could walk who wasn’t an [...]
