World cup not yet cemented
Zee news is reporting on an extreme shortage of cement in the Caribbean. The shortage is apparently affecting construction plans on seven of the 13 World Cup venues for next years tournament along with hotel construction projects being built to accommodate the inevitable wave of spectators.
I find all this pre-tournament nay-saying hype a bit too familiar. Most major tournaments have stories circulating in the run up to their launch, commenting on all the things that are going wrong with plans. Remember Athens?
Anyway, if I was a betting man (and I am), I’d put a tenner on the World Cup to go incredibly smoothly and in stadia that are fully constructed!
