Will Warne hit 700 at The WACA
The Ashes 2006/7 Eve of 3rd Test
It’s a near certainty that Shane Warne’s 700th wicket will be an Englishman. (England has a habit of being on the wrong end of World Records) but whether he reaches this phenomenal milestone at Perth remains to be seen.
Shane ‘Good Areas’ Warne, averages 4.88 wickets per Test match for his career, and this figure rises (no surprise) to 5.48 wickets when he has a quivering Pom at the other end of the crease.
He is therefore, statistically more likely to claim his 700th scalp (694 as of now) at Melbourne than at the WACA.
But as we all know, statistics can be misleading (the average human has one breast and one testicle) and if he picks up 3 or 4 at Perth he is more than likely to plunder ahead and make himself the first member of the 700 club in the same match.
