What must Vaughan be thinking?
The Ashes 2006/7 Eve of 3rd Test
What must be going through the head of Michael Vaughan right now? With just over 24 hours until a widely predicted handover of the Ashes commences, the captain-in-limbo must be wondering whether England would be in such a sorry position if he was still running the show.
He may also be wondering what lies in store for him when he finally manages to rekindle his career. What kind of team will he be returning to lead, and will he feel as though his work has been undone during his absence?
There was more to last years Ashes win than Michael Vaughan, but without him, the England team is looking increasingly like a dispirited collection of individuals, rather than a united and bonded team.
