Double hundreds in dead rubbers
There’s no doubt that Brian Lara is an excellent batsmen. I’d go further to say there’s little argument to suggest he doesn’t deserve his place atop the list of the most prolific run scorers in the history of the game.
However, at least two of his most memorable innings, have come in games when the series has already been lost to the opposition. His 400 against England and his double hundred against the Aussies, were both achieved with the Windies already having been comprehensively outplayed in the preceding matches.
So does this suggest that despite his genius, he produces his most memorable knocks when the heat of the battle has been reduced to a simmer?

Id suggest he had little choice this time given that the umpires gave 2 blatantly horrible decisions and one marginal one in the first 2 tests !!
