South Africa’s most exciting contribution to the Twenty20 game today was the introduction of green bikini clad dancing girls to jive in accompaniment to every boundary and wicket. Someone must have complained that their outfits were too skimpy as they came out in the second innings with paint sprayed over their midriffs.

The home country commentary team included a girl called ‘Kas’ who (with all the due respect I can muster) should stick to buying cosmetics on the shopping channel as her cricket literacy left a lot to be desired. The blokes didn’t fair much better with the most animated commentary coming from one of the home pundits exclaiming ‘look at those stomachs’ as he spied a dancing girl with Spandex riding high up her nether regions.

As for the game. NZ won, with the difference between the sides, the effectiveness of Nathan Astle’s dibbly-dobblers and the fact that Graham Smith continues to overate himself as a bowler.
