Chris Cairns has had a none too surprising recall bestowed upon him for the upcoming Chappell Hadlee series against Australia.

Despite John Bracewell demanding that Cairns show a commitment to playing regular domestic cricket, Cairns has been recalled following the disasterous tour of South Africa, before the NZ domestic season is properly underway.

There is also talk of Stephen Fleming missing the first game (to which I have tickets, yeah!) due to a “personal medical situation”, which could mean his wife is due to give birth, or he’s injured. It’s all a bit cloak and dagger and a bit odd, with the first game still being 10 days away.
