Australians and their hair!
So to be a bowler in the Aussie squad, you clearly have to be blonde. Not only that but you need to lighten your hair with even blonder streaks to mask your receding hairline and tip a whole tub of wet-look gel on your scalp to make it spiky.
So THAT’S why Gillespie has been [...]

Where the ICC got it wrong with technology
The ICC’s mandate to the on-field umpires during the 2005 Super Series ODI’s to refer anything they like to the 3rd umpire was not the most effective way of improving the accuracy of umpiring decisions. In fact it looked to cause more confusion in the decision making process of the men in the middle.
Give [...]

It was…….interesting
The 3 Super Series ODI’s are out of the way and the best adjective I can come up with to describe them is ‘interesting’.
There was a distant and numb fascination in watching this series but like an aunt who’s kisses you loathe, I had to turn up to see her it but not because [...]

No Hawkeye for 3rd umpire
Why oh bloody why do the ICC do this? They allow the so-called use of technology into the game when it is so clearly needed but do their usual half arsed job by not giving the tools to the decision makers that are available to everybody else.
Hawkeye is proven. If anyone is interested in [...]

Exorcising Demons
If Game 1, was all about the Australian team combining as a unit to exorcise the Ashes, then the Game 2 exorcisms have been a far more individual affair.
Gilchrist has vanquished Flintoff to realise that a big score waits on the other side of a Freddie spell. Martyn went toe to toe with [...]

What makes a team?
If I wander into the forest of corporate bullshit here, forgive me. I’ve lived amongst the buzzword trees and hyperbole weeds for two decades and sometimes it’s hard to stop myself.
In anticipation of tonight’s screening of Aussie Vs The-World part 2, GK has me churning this idea of team unity and spirit over in [...]

Reflections on Game 1
I have mixed feelings the morning after the game and I am hungover on the memory of those rifle cracks painfully echoing inside the mainly empty dome.
And on the game?……Promising start - but the shocking batting display by the WorldXI which, combined with the Aussie celebrations, proved beyond a doubt that Game 1 [...]

Game 1 - Super Series
And thats it. Vettori slides one to Ponting and its all over.
And look at those Aussies, shit they’re happy. Huggin’ an a kissin’. This match won’t silence the critics but they played well and deserved to win comfortably.
I might try and read through all this tomorrow and try and put something sensible together. then again I might not.

Come on guys, end my misery.
Whoah! Shoaib, you Rawahlpindi Elvis you, you can’t bat! 10 off 2 balls, whats the deal? 10 and 11 now have 2 of the top 4 scores. 94 off 53 needed.

Which brings Akhtar to the crease. He looks miserable behind that helmet. Harry Potter looks like he’s taking over Freddie’s role and starts to open his shoulders. Only Sanga and Freddie in double figures in the top 9. Piss poor really.
