Lost in the middle?
For me, the One Day International in danger of occupying shaky middle ground as a viewing event.
The Twenty20 game is gaining momentum in global presence and credibility as an established entrée into a touring season. Most of the Twenty20 games I have seen televised over the last year or so are being played in [...]

A duck in blue Lycra shorts
There’s something infinitely dodgy about watching New Zealand in South Africa in this current one day series, not least of which is the fact that every boundary is celebrated by a cartoon duck appearing on the screen. Perhaps I’m missing the obvious connection. A duck for a boundary? The relevance (if any) is lost [...]

Dodgy commentary and dancing girls in Twenty20
South Africa’s most exciting contribution to the Twenty20 game today was the introduction of green bikini clad dancing girls to jive in accompaniment to every boundary and wicket. Someone must have complained that their outfits were too skimpy as they came out in the second innings with paint sprayed over their midriffs.

Surfer goes on tangent
The Surfer is starting some discussion led posts on given subjects, the current one being technology, which is a clear divergence from its ‘best of the web - wrapped in brief editorial’.

5. Flintoff reversing the ball outside of England (look out Pakistan)
6. Ponting’s hissy-fit at Taufel
7. Two world class overs (Murali to Katich & McGrath to Smith)
8. McGrath’s leg glance off Freddie
9. The [...]

Petulant Ponting
Only heard the tail end of it on the highlights after the teast wrapped up, but heard Ponting having a bitch session with Simon Taufel (who retained Statesmenlike calm I have to say), about an LBW referral that he had some kind of issue with.
He seemed, bizarrely, to be compaining at being given not-out.

The Test so far
Have only managed to catch glimpses of the game so far, but it seems to be following an all too familiar path. Freddie seemed to have the ball reversing well to help wrap up the Aussie second innings but who is going to stick around long enough to make the run chase look even [...]

Classic Commentary
Heard this again on Radio Sport NZ today and was reminded of how funny it was when I first heard it. Think it was Kerry O’Keefe delivering the line.
Kasprowicz does bowl a lot of Rock Hudson’s………pause……they look straight but they’re not.
